Our project of early detection of COPD is focused on finding undiagnosed patients in the adult symptomatic high-risk population. Inclusion criteria are a) age from 40 to 69 years, b) tobacco exposure more than 10 pack-years, c) exercise-induced dyspnoea without any other obvious reason (all the above criteria must be met). Patients at risk are screened by a GP.
A pulmonary physician will perform mMRC, CAT, postBDspirometry, bodyplethysmography and TLco. The first results of the project show that the high-risk population may include more than one third of patients with COPD and more than one of third of patients with a non-specific pulmonary disorder. The second group will be further examined to clarify the diagnosis. Further results will provide more evidence.
